Sheet Billow
by Jeanne René

... Family photo ... San Jose CA ...

~Sheet Billow

Being

carried away
on a soft relentless wind

Standing in my memory
lost in the sheet billow
of old clothes lines
and distant sounds
come up from the creek

Facing the insistence of tomorrow
time chasing the inescapable
I bow
I bend

I seed once more
listening to the rub of cricket
lost in an unfamiliar melody

Honeyed/Catching Promises ... by Jeanne René

All summer long mama’s porch caught and nestled the breeze    for the ladies. Round, round the rafters it ambled, swooped down...

Artist Statement

The many times I have tried to write an artist statement I just end up deleting what I have struggled to compose. So, simply put I just do what I do. I write what I feel, what I see, what I imagine and what I question. I paint what my mind envisions in my daydreams, often no plan whatsoever but simply putting a brush to the canvas. It's all that simple. I'll leave it to you to decide what you think about any and all. That's my statement.

Let me be
the storyteller.
Let me
weave
just for you
the rhythm of a beating heart,
visions too marvelous to behold,
and the delights of a gentle touch
in my poem.

In my poem
let me
compose
just for you
the power of thought,
the joy of laughter,
and the tears spent over a forsaken passion ...
for you
spun
by me
the storyteller.
Let it be.
